Yes. News trading is permitted on Solo with no restrictions. There is no blackout window around scheduled releases, no minimum holding time, and no restriction on the order types you use.
This is one of the restrictions the experiment deliberately removes. Account-level risk controls are unchanged during news events, so the Static Daily Drawdown and Static Maximum Drawdown apply exactly as they do at any other time, and fast markets can move a position through your intended exit.
